This group held its first meeting in 2003 to look at a range of coastal issues affecting the core area from Whitstable around the Thanet Coast to Deal.

The group has a membership of scientists, government agencies and non-governmental bodies. It aims to:

• Act as a focus for coastal information
• Initiate research into problems and issues affecting the coast
• Work to influence coastal policy decisions
• Advise the North East Kent European marine sites Management Group
• Maintain appropriate contact with local stakeholders
